On Saturday, June 3, the 2023 Canadian Brewing Awards winners were announced at the Canadian Brewing Awards and Conference, a three-day conference, held in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Our Tripel was awarded the silver medal, coming in second after Euphoria by 33 Acres Brewing Company (@33acresbrewing) out of British Columbia, the Belgian Tripel from Pile O’ Bones Brewing Company (@pileobonesbrews) of Saskatchewan taking third place.
We brewed our Tripel for International Tripel Day on March 3 to celebrate and promote the appreciation of the Belgian Tripel. What is a Belgian Tripel?
A “Tripel” is a type of Belgian beer that is known for its strong, complex flavours and high alcohol content, and was originally brewed by monks. It is typically golden to amber in color and has a dry, spicy character with notes of fruit and citrus.
Mike, of Craft Beer Days (@craftbeerdays), brought together 5 Ontario breweries to brew this style for the special day. With a tasting event held at Little Beasts in Whitby, Tripel fans could try examples from Brock Street Brewery (@brockstreetbrewing), Folly Brewery (@follybrewing), Little Beasts Brewing Company (@littlebeastsbrewco), Shacklands Brewery (@shacklandsbrewing), and ourselves (@MeuseBrewing) in celebrating #InternationalTripelDay (more information at tripelday.com.
